Welcome to the Continuum
Design and Concept by Susun Coleman

I have studied the Golden Mean, or, Golden Section, as a compositional tool in my painting, since college. Leonardo Da Vinci realized the design. He named it his "Trattato della Pittura, which refers to a "perspective frame". The focus of the perspective scheme is placed to the right of center in such a way that the ratio of the distances between the two edges and the vanishing point is very close to the "Golden Mean". This basic ‘divine’ principle can be found everywhere we look in nature, to the grand design of galaxies.

If you notice where the "curve" is, you have the beginning of an infinite "Golden Spiral".

This idea was the background, as it is in most of my work, for designing an "overlay" art design for Brenda’s new ‘chest’ (she discusses her mastectomies in her Quiet Miracles page). We also had many conversations about her CD’s on the Reset Breath and sound waves. One evening, we set aside a block of time to design a new ‘logo’ for ourselves as we merged our ideas about her continuing concept for Quiet Miracles. We planned to stay in and ‘hunker down’ for an evening of work.

Ah-ha! As it is, when ‘things’ are EASY and in wonderfully funky divine order, I picked up a pen and drew the above curved symbol right away. I knew immediately it was the combination of the Golden Spiral, a new musical ‘clef’ as well as a symbol for Love. It had to be THE Continuum! I imagined the ‘sound’ of our new ‘clef’ would vibrate low and sure. Its ‘feel’ was infinite. It just felt good! After another thirty minutes or so, we had the five words you see on the opening page, the five lines of ‘music’ and we were off and running to the Web Masters to get our ideas to you.
